Scouts from the San Francisco, California, area partnered with local food banks to collect donations for families in need during the holiday season.
Scouts helped gather donations at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank warehouse in San Rafael, which serves more than 50,000 households weekly. With the holidays approaching, food banks are seeing increased demand.
Last year, Scouts collected more than 28,000 pounds of food across the region, evidence of the community’s generosity and support for those facing hunger and a testament to the ability of local Scouts to help make such a massive food drive happen.

Eagle Scout hopeful transforms nature preserve with multiple service projects
Jack Miller, from Troop 780 of West Bend, Wisconsin, completed three service projects for a local nature conservancy on his road to Eagle Scout. The projects included building a wood storage shed, installing portable fire pits made from washing machine spin baskets and creating tic-tac-toe boards from tree slabs.
Jack began sourcing materials in March 2024. He secured funding and materials, including a $500 donation from the American Legion, by May. He then led his troop in assembling the projects.
