For adventure- and toy-loving readers, we think the answer to the question up top is pretty clear. But we suggest you read on to decide for yourself.
And note: We’re barely scratching the surface with this roundup. Not featured below are November’s Gear Guy Q&A, a rock-climbing feature, jokes galore, rain-gear tips, chances to snag vintage merch and, of course, Thanksgiving-themed comics!
This month in history: the Gettysburg Address
Brevity can make a huge impact.
Just look at Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address from Nov. 19, 1863. The speech was fewer than 300 words (for reference, that’s shorter than this blog post) and remains one of the most famous addresses in history.
Readers can learn more about the Gettysburg Address – along with the official definition of “four score” – in the “Heads Up” section on page 6 of the November issue of Scout Life.
TOYS! TOYS! TOYS!
Our readers live for our annual toy roundup and giveaway. It’s the perfect source for making a holiday gift list. And even better? The pick-a-toy giveaway is back!
You can enter to win toys from the magazine every 24 hours until November 30. Check it out on the Scout Life website right now.
Scouts in the news
Bhavik Reddy Kondala from Troop 10 in Shreveport, Louisiana, is now recognized as the elementary school student of the year for the entire state!
The Louisiana state legislature commended Bhavik for his incredible and vast contributions to his school and community. At 11 years old, Bhavik excels academically, serves on the safety patrol and contributes to the school’s news broadcast as a writer and producer. He also volunteers as a tutor and food bank worker at the Hindu Cultural Center.
Learn more about Bhavik and other Scouts making the news in the “Headliners” section of each issue of Scout Life. And if you know Scouts who are shaking up their communities locally or nationally, let us know! Visit scoutlife.org/contact-us/headliners/ to submit a worthy Scout’s story.
Scouts love this part of the magazine …
Month after month, our readers write in to tell us they love the “Scouts in Action” comics in Scout Life. These are true, illustrated stories about Scouts who rise to hero status (you can even read how we learn about these stories in November’s “Aerie on the Prairie” on page 2).
This month, Scouts rescue others from fire, a fall and water. Check out these incredible stories on pages 36 and 37.

They’ll not only enjoy it, but by reading, they’ll also build literacy skills and creativity. Plus, each issue promises tips and stories of outdoor adventure kids don’t find on their tablets.
The magazine is also a recruitment and service tool that showcases Scouting to potential members and provides the help Scouts need to advance through the program. Research shows Scout Life readers stay in Scouting three times longer than non-readers.
