Your Webelos Scout can learn yo-yo fun with this Adventure

Does your Webelos Scout love to play with yo-yos? They are a fun toy with which you can spin some really cool tricks. They’re also great tools for teaching physics.

The Yo-Yo Cub Scout Adventure combines fun and education for a fantastic experience Webelos Scouts can enjoy. This Adventure previously was a Preview Adventure, one of the temporary online Adventures for Cub Scouts. Based on the response, the Yo-Yo Adventure, sponsored by Duncan Toys, is now part of the Elective Adventure lineup for Webelos.

In it, Webelos learn how to safely use a yo-yo, how to properly string and wind one, how to do a pendulum experiment, and how to try cool tricks, like the gravity pull, sleeper and breakaway. These are tricks yo-yo champions know, and experts teach your Cub Scout how to do them through online tutorials, courtesy of Duncan Toys.

More Scouting yo-yo fun

While the Elective Adventure is for Webelos Scouts, Duncan Toys offers other exciting opportunities.

Older Scouts can participate in Duncan’s Teen Program, earning badges along the way. Scouts study the free tutorial videos available at Duncan’s program page. They learn how to do the yo-yo trick in each video. Then they film themselves completing the tricks and upload their video to YouTube or Vimeo. They fill out the form on this page to submit their videos. Finally, they’ve earned the badge and move on to the next level.

For Cub Scouts, you can shop for great starter yo-yos, like the Hornet Looping Yo-Yo ($13.50), or you can get a survival kit ($25.99) and your Cub Scout will have everything he or she will need to spin some fun in the sport of yo-yoing.

Duncan Toys also sells a Hornet yo-yo made just for Scouts, retailing for $14.99 and available at the Scout Shop. It’s balanced perfectly for looping tricks, and its ball-bearing axle helps the yo-yo spin for a long time.

Duncan Toys offers a 20% discount to Scouts on its entire website. You just need to use the promo code “jamboree20”.

Prepare for unit events

You can teach your Scouts by getting Scout Leader Case Packs, priced well below retail, each featuring assorted yo-yos in multiples of 12. These case packs are perfect for group activities and recruiting events.

If you’re planning a big event, consider Duncan’s customizable packs, where you can add logos, graphics or even your unit’s number on the yo-yos. Choose from among three quality yo-yos, add your image and pick your color, and you’ve got a cool custom toy for your next meeting or recruitment event.
