That’s why I asked to see Eagle Scout project before-and-after photos — the same photos prospective Eagles must include with their post-project report.
In the collection below, you’ll see the same spot twice: Once before an Eagle Scout project began and once after.
Consider this as you scroll through: You can multiply each individual act of stupendous service by 50,000. That’s how many Eagle Scout projects get completed every single year.

Matthew from New York
Who: Matthew, Troop 327, Central Islip, N.Y.
What: Matthew constructed two roofs for the dugouts at the Central Islip Little League field to provide some much-needed shelter from the brutal sun on hot summer days.
Stephen from New York
Who: Stephen, Troop 506, Buffalo, N.Y.
What: Stephen restored a baggage cart from the Buffalo Central Terminal for public display.
Ben from North Carolina
Who: Ben, Troop 820, Pittsboro, N.C.
What: Ben built a floating dock for the Carolina Living and Learning Center.
Jonathan from North Carolina
Who: Jonathan, Troop 40, Candler, N.C.
What: Jonathan converted and remodeled a storage closet into a kitchen at Beth Israel Synagogue.
Ben from Ohio
Who: Ben, Troop 71, Perry, Ohio
What: Ben designed, built and installed 11 permanent benches at the fire circles of two rustic campsites at his favorite church camp: Camp Asbury in Hiram, Ohio. Previous seating was either moss-covered rocks or plastic lawnchairs.
Matthew from Ohio
Who: Matthew, Troop 112, Newton Falls, Ohio
What: Matthew rebuilt a dangerous staircase and built a new bridge over the Minnehaha Falls run-off site.
Mitchell from Ohio
Who: Mitchell, Troop 128, Milford, Ohio
What: Mitch constructed an 45-foot-long footbridge crossing the creek between the local sports complex and nature preserve, establishing access between them.
Alexander from Pennsylvania
Who: Alexander, Troop 831, Carnegie, Pa.
What: Alexander rehabbed the entryway sign at Carlynton Junior-Senior High School (his high school), including recapping the sign, installing a banner, adding landscaping and making the electrical work safer. (Alexander oversaw the dangerous parts of the electrical work, which was completed by an adult who is an Eagle Scout and family friend.)
Nicholas from Pennsylvania
Who: Nicholas, Troop 91, Telforda, Pa.
What: Nicholas built two dugout roofs to protect players from foul balls and provide shade.
Matthew from Pennsylvania
Who: Matthew, Troop 1025, Washington, Pa.
What: Matthew built a prayer garden for his church/chartered organization. That included a fence to hide the air-conditioning units, two benches, a brick walkway, two dogwood trees, two white rose bushes and various flowers.
Zachary from Pennsylvania
Who: Zachary, Troop 111, Waymart, Pa.
What: Zach aided in the reconstruction of the awning and re-landscaped the entry of the church.
