It’s easy for a family that’s new to Scouting to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information that’s thrown at them. That’s why welcoming them the right way is so important.

One of the many questions new families are going to have is about the uniform — not only “Which one do I need?” but, just as important, “How much does it cost?”

You’ll want to make sure they know about one of the biggest uniform promotions in Scout Shop history. Starting this week, both new and returning families can save 20% on a full Cub Scout, Scouts BSA or Venturing uniform.

How do families get the 20% discount offer?

The offer is available when you purchase a uniform through the National Scout Shop website or at all participating local Scout Shops. Contact your local Scout Shop to confirm if it’s participating.

How long is the offer valid?

This promotion is live now and will run through October 31.

What parts of the uniform are included in the 20% discount offer?

For the Cub Scout uniform, the offer is valid for tops, bottoms, belts, neckerchiefs, neckerchief slides, caps and socks.

For the Scouts BSA and Venturing uniforms, the offer is valid for tops, bottoms, belts, caps and socks.

Why do Scouts wear uniforms?

The uniform is part of the methods and aims of all of Scouting America’s programs.

Not only is the uniform practical attire for Scout activities, but it also shows that the Scout is a member of a team that’s aligned to change the world for the better. Wearing the uniform shows each Scout’s commitment to following the Scout Oath and Law. The Scout uniform symbolizes character development, leadership, citizenship and personal fitness.

It’s also a great way for Scouts to display the badges and honors they have earned along the Scouting trail.

What are the uniform requirements?

Scouting America’s official rules and regulations allow some flexibility on the uniform requirements. Families should contact their unit leadership for information on the uniform requirements for their unit.

Regardless of your unit’s requirements, uniforms should be clean and neat in appearance.

Are there any other Scout Shop promotions related to the uniform?
