Carter Lymon, an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 8 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, completed a service project aimed at wildfire prevention.

Working closely with Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1, Carter designed and installed a fire danger rating sign along a popular recreation route to alert travelers and outdoor enthusiasts about wildfire risks.

The project involved over 40 volunteer hours, planning meetings, coordination with local businesses and the teamwork of more than 20 volunteers. Fire Chief Scott Kitchner praised the effort as a powerful example of youth leadership and civic responsibility.

Inspired by his connection to firefighters and his experience in Scouting, Carter hopes the sign helps the public stay safe and aware of fire risks in the area.

Troop cuts through firewood to support fellow Scout

After a member of Troop 6171 in Hillsboro, Oregon, was diagnosed with leukemia, the troop rallied to support his family.

Usually, the family would be preparing for winter by cutting firewood, but they are currently focused on staying at the hospital during the Scout’s treatment.

In response, current and former Scouts, advisors, family, and friends came together to cut and split enough firewood to fill two trailers and a truck bed. This will help ensure the family has less to worry about during a difficult time.
