The only thing better than attending the National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve near Beckley, West Virginia, is reserving a few days before or after to explore all the area has to offer.

The Elevate Your Jamboree Journey program is a great way to do just that. It offers access to preferred partner attractions and group rates both before and after the Jamboree that you won’t find anywhere else.

Next year’s Jamboree will have even more to celebrate, as we recognize the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

What is the Elevate Your Jamboree Journey program?

Elevate Your Jamboree Journey is an official Scouting America initiative designed to give participants, staffers and their families the opportunity to have a fuller, richer Jamboree experience. The program will connect people traveling to the Jamboree with official Scouting America partners that offer additional tours and visits to sites such as landmarks, museums, campsites and parks outside of the National Jamboree.

Right now, there are two amazing partners on board for the Elevate Your Jamboree Journey experience — and that’s just the beginning. More partners will be joining between now and next summer, all committed to helping our Scouts have the ultimate adventure. Be sure to check back for updates as the excitement builds.

Harrison County, Indiana, is around five hours west of the Summit. Known for its historical significance and opportunities to get outdoors, a stop in Harrison County is perfect either before or after the Jamboree.

“Scouts love visiting Harrison County for its rich history, outdoor adventures and unique hands-on experiences that foster learning and teamwork,” says Stacy Pirtle, a certified travel industry specialist and the director of sales and visitor services for the Harrison County Indiana CVB. “I’m here to help plan a memorable trip tailored to your troop’s needs, making it easy and exciting from start to finish.”

School Tours of America is one of the best outfits out there for planning group travel experiences for students and educators who want to visit Washington, D.C., a mere five hours from the Summit.

As part of their Jamboree packages, Scout groups can explore Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Williamsburg/Jamestown, Charlottesville and Gettysburg, ensuring a rich, educational and immersive experience that brings history and leadership lessons to life.

“School Tours of America is proud to partner with Scouting America in a shared mission to develop future leaders through exploration, service and experiential learning,” says Mary Howerton, senior director of business development of School Tours of America. “Every program is designed to inspire citizenship, broaden perspectives and bring the values of Scouting to life through travel.”

School Tours of America will manage every detail of your trip to D.C., including transportation, accommodations, meals, sightseeing and safety. They can even deliver your troop to the Jamboree and pick you up from the event so families can focus on what matters: building character, creating lifelong memories and preparing Scouts for the road ahead.
