Watch this now: ‘Philmont: A Love Letter’

“No matter where I’ve gone, no matter how far away or how beautiful, I’ve never found another place I can call home like this great, big pile of rocks.”

That’s Tucker Prescott, aspiring filmmaker, waxing poetic about Philmont Scout Ranch.

The title of his four-minute film, “Philmont: A Love Letter,” speaks for itself. Tucker, a Philmont Ranger, offers a stunning glimpse into why many call Philmont “God’s country.”

This isn’t Tucker’s first foray into capturing Philmont with his video camera. Last year I posted his impressive film “Philmont: A Ranger’s Summer.” With “Philmont: A Love Letter,” I think Tucker has outdone himself yet again.

Hat tip: Thanks to David Berry for the blog post idea. And to Tucker for sharing his magical video.

  1. As a fellow Ranger 86′ & 87′, thanks for doing this. it brought back some strong memories. My two summers were the best years of my life.

  2. All I can say is WOW! Fantastic Job! I attended Philmont in 1971, and can still remember so much of it like it was yesterday. I have not been able to make it back, yet anyway, but my Son got to go this past summer. We hope to go back together within the next 3 years since we are going to start a Venturing Crew next Spring when he ages out of Boy Scouts.

  3. My husband “The Ole Scoutmaster” has taken 4 contingents of scouts. The last he was able to take his grandson. What a proud moment he had to share this awesomeness.

  4. I will be there next year for my first time as a Scoutmaster. I think I’m far more excited than my scouts. All I remember from growing up was about how much Philmont was the pinnacle of scouting’s high adventure programs.
