Spanish Fork, Utah, native Jennifer Lowe officially became the 2010-2011 national Venturing president at a ceremony last month.
Lowe, who just completed her freshman year at Brigham Young University, takes over for Matthew McGroarty, who recently finished his one-year term.
In five years in the Venturing program, she has earned the Venturing Bronze, Gold, and Silver Awards, and is a recipient of the Venturing Leadership Award. In 2009-2010, she served as Western Region president. She’s now working on the Venturing Quest and Trust awards.
Even with all that involvement in Scouting, Lowe will still find time to continue her studies as a nursing student at BYU this fall.
Lowe will lead the BSA’s National Youth Cabinet, which is composed of the national Venturing president, four regional Venturing presidents, and the national Sea Scout boatswain.
Next year, Lowe will lead a contingent to Washington, D.C., for the BSA’s annual Report to the Nation. She’ll tour the nation’s capitol and meet members of congress as the BSA tells U.S. leaders about Scouting’s accomplishments during the past year.
