Pedal power at the World Scout Jamboree

What’s the jamboree way to charge your cell phone?

Like everything here, it combines hard work with being green.

That’s right, bicycle-powered cell phone chargers have arrived in the staff area at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. Talking to a woman from the U.K. last night, I learned that you get about a 1 percent charge for every one minute of moderately fast cycling.

In other words, if your battery’s dead, you better be Lance Armstrong.

There are traditional ways to charge your phone here (and some less traditional, like solar) but only this one turns your energy into energy for your phone. Cool!
