200 American flags to honor heroes, plus other good news from this week

The Palmetto Council’s 2023 Flags for Heroes program is running this week and has gotten plenty of positive coverage from a local Fox affiliate.

“We see the impact of our program with boys and girls every day, and I’m glad that we have something the community can come and see how we’re serving and how we want to support the heroes in our community,” Palmetto Council BSA Board President Dan Atkinson told the news station. “It’s so moving to know that many people mean something to the people in our community.”

Two hundred flags were installed as part of the event. The flags are sponsored, and the money will be used as scholarships for future kids to join Scouting.
