A Scout tradition renewed
Troop 37 in Atlantic Beach, Florida, is leading the charge to restore the historic Red Hut, a longtime home for local Scout units built in the late 1930s.
Known for its distinctive red exterior, the cathedral ceiling made of old-growth sycamore and flooring salvaged from a 19th-century Jacksonville post office, the Red Hut has deteriorated over time. With aging windows and wood siding in need of replacement, the troop has launched a community-backed fundraising campaign to revitalize the building.
Support from local leaders, donors and community events is helping preserve this cherished Florida landmark for future generations of Scouts.
