Eagle Scout projects are for the dogs, plus more positive news in Scouting this week

Rocco Pasquarella, a 17-year-old Scout from Boca Troop 323 in Boca Raton, Florida, led a project to build an outdoor washing station at Tri-County Animal Rescue in Boca Raton.

This service project is part of his journey to earn Eagle Scout. Rocco and his troop spent about 400 hours preparing for the project. They completed it in two days and the wash station has been a significant help to the shelter.

The new station replaces an old wash tub and is now used frequently to clean rescued dogs. Rocco has also donated $500 in leftover project funds to the shelter.

Eagle Scout makes dog beds for Humane Society

Aiden Rabideau, an Eagle Scout from Grand Blanc, Michigan, is bringing more comfort to dogs at the Humane Society of Genesee County with his project.

Inspired by a visit to the shelter, Aiden created 12 dog beds using recycled tires. He’s had help from fellow Scouts and a local auto care business. Aiden hopes the beds will comfort the dogs and make them more appealing for adoption.

The Humane Society, which relies solely on donations, praised Aiden’s efforts, noting how such community projects significantly help improve the animals’ living conditions.
