BSA Troop 79 celebrates 100 years of service

Chester Kaiser BSA Troop 79 of Somerset, Kentucky, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary at First Christian Church. The event commemorated the troop’s rich history and honored members past and present. The troop’s legacy dates back to its founding in 1924 by Chester Kaiser and includes camping trips, community service and an association with the Mill Springs Battlefield.

The ceremony highlighted the troop’s impact, boasting 203 Eagle Scouts, including notable figures like former Scoutmaster Robin Daughetee, who emphasized the leadership role of all Scouts in their community. The mayor of Somerset designated March 24, 2024, as Chester Kaiser Troop 79 Day, acknowledging the troop’s significant contribution to the community.
