It’s time to nominate Scouters for the Silver Antelope award

Every year, the Boy Scouts of America honors deserving volunteers based on how their work affects the Scouting movement. These are called the “Silver family” of BSA awards: At the council-level, the BSA bestows the Silver Beaver; at the territory-level, the Silver Antelope; and at the national-level, the Silver Buffalo.

If you want to nominate someone for the 2024 Silver Antelope award, now is the time.

Created in 1942, the Silver Antelope honors registered Scouters who have demonstrated exceptional character and distinguished service to youth in their territory. There are 16 national service territories across the country, each supporting at least a dozen councils within its respective territory.

Nomination forms with no more than two recommendation letters detailing explanations of the nominee’s contributions must be submitted together electronically to the national service center via Awards@scouting.org no later than Nov. 30, 2023. To prevent embarrassment if not selected, don’t tell the candidate that they are being nominated.

When submitting the Silver Antelope nomination form, include as much correct and relevant information about the nominee as possible, including the correct spelling of their name and contributions the nominee has made to youth inside and outside of ScoutingIncomplete nominations will not be considered.

You can also include endorsement letters, provided they feature detailed explanations of the nominee’s contributions. Any questions can be sent to Awards@scouting.org.

The application window for the Silver Buffalo award has passed. Check with your local council for deadlines on submitting a Silver Beaver nomination.
