The BSA has selected its 2023 National Jamboree Chair

The pieces continue to fall into place for the 2023 National Jamboree.

Earlier today, the BSA’s National Executive Board announced that former BSA National Commissioner Tico Perez will serve as the 2023 National Jamboree Chair. Perez will immediately begin recruiting the rest of the leadership team for the 2023 event, which will be held July 19-28 at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

“I am honored to be selected as Jamboree Chair,” says Perez, an Eagle Scout who has also received the Silver Buffalo and Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service awards. “Jamborees create lasting memories for everyone involved. I can’t wait to get started.”

Decades of service

In addition to serving as National Commissioner from 2008-2016, Hector A. Perez — known as “Tico” to his many, many friends — has served on the National OA Committee and as president of the Central Florida Council. He has also earned the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards.

He also served on three committees that selected the BSA’s Chief Scout Executive.

“Attending a National Jamboree, whether it’s as an adult or a youth, can be a life-changing experience, and 2023 will be no different,” Perez says. “It’s our goal to give everyone who’s there the experience of a lifetime.”

It’s time to get ready!

The 2023 National Jamboree was announced with much fanfare just two weeks ago. It will be open to Venturers, Explorers and members of Scouts BSA. Activities will include most everything that makes the Summit so special: whitewater rafting, fishing, rock climbing, fun and games, and much, much more.

The most up-to-date information on the event can always be found at the official 2023 National Jamboree website.
