National Trails Day a natural fit for Scouting

NTD-logo Question: How many miles of trails cut across the United
States?

Answer: More than 200,000.

Question: Who knows the beauty of those trails best?

Answer: The Boy Scouts of America.

That’s what makes National Trails Day the perfect
opportunity to celebrate the great outdoors with your unit.

Join in June 5 as thousands of Scouts, Scouters, and lovers of
the great outdoors from all over gather to rejoice in the nation’s network of
trails. Begun in 1993 by the American Hiking Society, it’s become an annual
tradition.

More than 1,500 National Trails Day events have been
organized, and at least 60 are affiliated with BSA units. If you’d like your
pack, troop, or crew to plan a National Trails Day activity, it’s easy to get
started. Click here to search for events near you. Or follow this
same link to learn how to host your own celebration.

Whether you bike a state park, backpack the Rockies, or just
take a day hike at a nearby nature preserve, you’ll feel the excitement of
National Trails Day.
