Next week on the blog: Coverage of Outdoor Retailer and NOAC

We’re splitting our personalities.

Next week on Bryan on Scouting, we’ll bring you coverage of both the National Order of the Arrow Conference and the Outdoor Retailer show.

If you’re at all connected to the OA or enjoy knowing about the latest and greatest gear — or both! — this is the week for you.

Here’s a little more about our coverage plans. This blog is for you, the adult volunteer, so let us know in the comments section if there’s something you’d like us to try to cover at either of these exciting events.

NOAC-2015-logoNational Order of the Arrow Conference

I’ll be at NOAC, held on the campus of Michigan State University.

Some 15,000 Arrowmen will gather to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. Scouting’s national honor society was formed in 1915.

It’s a special thrill for me, a Brotherhood member of the OA, to attend this gathering of some of the most passionate Arrowmen around. Doubly cool is that my dad, a Vigil Honor member of the OA, attended the 50th anniversary NOAC in 1965 at Indiana University.

I’ll share stories and photos throughout the conference. You’ll also want to follow me on Twitter @bryanonscouting for regular NOAC updates.

For those of you who have been to NOAC in the past, let me ask: What stories should I look out for?

Find more great NOAC info on the conference’s official website.

Gretchen will attend the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City. She’ll keep you in the know about the latest and greatest outdoor gear, including items you can’t even buy yet.

This is the very gear Scouts, Scouters and Venturers will be using in the coming months and years. What gear are you in the market for?

Also, this is cool: The world’s top gear companies will design cars for a special adults-only pinewood derby at Outdoor Retailer. These are some of the planet’s most creative people, and their cars are sure to amaze. Best part is, you get to vote on your favorite cars right here on the blog.

Gretchen will be tweeting, too. Follow her @gretchenBSA.
