Happy 100th Birthday, Boy Scouts of America!

One-hundred years ago today, the Boy Scouts of America was founded. It’s time to celebrate the profound impact Scouting has had on our country. Here are some ways to get started:

  • Check out Joseph Csatari’s painting, shown above, which depicts a 1910 Scout, four current Scouts, and one boy who can’t wait to join the program.
  • Head to Scouting magazine’s commemorative 100th Anniversary issue. There you’ll meet Scouting’s founders and read about important events in the BSA’s history.
  • “Join the Celebration” on the BSA’s official 100th Anniversary Web site. It’s full of ideas about how to enjoy the yearlong festivities.
  • Make plans to visit Adventure Base 100 when it comes to your state.
  • Stock up on BSA 2010 gear with free shipping today.
  • Continue sending us photos from your unit’s birthday celebration. We’ll publish them this week.

From all of us at Cracker Barrel, the official blog of Scouting magazine: Happy Birthday, BSA!
