Explore parks, monuments like never before with Nissan and the Chimani app

Your next outdoor adventure might be closer than you think. From little-known monuments near your home to famous national parks across the country, you can find them all, thanks to the free Chimani app. The app features thousands of points of interest, complete with information on public lands, offline maps and subscriber discounts.

The app makes it simple to search for parks and monuments, national forests and wildlife refuges. When you find one you want to visit, check-in to the app when you’re there, and it will award you a special verified virtual badge. You can also log all your past visits.

Recording your visits not only helps you keep track of your adventures, but through April 30, it can help you win cool prizes!

Go on a #ParksPursuit

Automotive innovator Nissan USA and Chimani are encouraging people to discover our nation’s parks and public lands by downloading the Chimani app for free, registering and checking in at parks and points of interest. Each check-in qualifies for an entry in a prize draw, thus increasing your chance to win prizes, including a National Park Camping Adventure Package with Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA).

From now until April 30, you can log in your visits (in-person or virtually) for a chance to win $20,000 in prizes, including trips and outdoor gear.

The grand prize in the #ParksPursuit challenge is a four-day/three-night stay at one of the participating KOA resorts, a Yakima SkyBox NX 18 cargo box, an MSR Habitude 6-person tent, a VSSL Nest Pour Over Kit + Java G25 Coffee Grinder Bundle, two Therm-a-rest Juno Blankets and a National Geographic Book Series. The grand prize winner will also receive a $1,000 travel stipend in the form of a gift card.

Get ready for National Park Week

You can find deals and fun opportunities this month while you explore with the Chimani app. National Park Week runs April 20-28 this year, during which the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation invites everyone to “celebrate America’s treasured places.”

With 400 national parks, you can use the Chimani app to find and celebrate one of our nation’s treasures. Some of the deals include waived entrance fees on the first day of National Park Week, a global Earth Day celebration and Junior Ranger Day.

Scouts and Cub Scouts can also earn a Junior Ranger patch and certificate as they learn about the parks and/or volunteer in service projects. You can get an Every Kid Outdoors pass, which gives fourth-graders — along with one car full of family and friends — one day of free access to our national parks, lands, waters and historic sites.

Keep exploring

After these special events, you can keep using the Chimani app for your adventures. The app includes more than 70 curated guides written by travel pros, highlighting camping spots, hiking trails, activities to do and helpful tips, like where restrooms and parking lots are located. These detailed guides for the most popular national parks and nine states unlock how to get the most out of your visits.

All Chimani guides work offline and without the need for a cell signal. Use your GPS to find your exact location on the app’s detailed topographic maps.

Using the travelogue on the app, you can see all your park visits in one place. Track your progress towards visiting all the national parks, bookmarking them so you know which ones you can visit next.
