Good thing a Scout is brave.
David Montgomery, Eagle Scout, NFL running back and official Scouting America spokesperson, has suffered an injury that may keep him out for the rest of the season (or … maybe not?).
Whether he plays again this season or not, Montgomery has had a remarkable impact on both the Detroit Lions (he’s got 775 rushing yards, 341 receiving yards and has helped the team to a 12-2 record heading into this weekend’s game against Chicago) and on Scouting America (he has spoken glowingly about his own Scouting experience and his thoughts on why Scouting is still relevant today, and he recently flashed the Scout salute after a touchdown).
The injury — rumored to be a sprained MCL — is a serious one, but at the time of this post, the Lions had not yet put him on injured reserve, leaving open the possibility that he could make a return this season.
This week, the Michigan Crossroads Council encouraged their members to record brief messages of support for Montgomery. The council says they’ll share them via social media.
Losing Montgomery for the season would be a big blow, but NFL teams don’t get to 12-2 by accident. The Lions remain a good bet to advance far into the postseason.
Here’s hoping Montgomery gets the opportunity to join them.
