Scouters and Scouts around the world are doing Good Turns every day. Let’s highlight a few from this week.

Scout leads the charge to create a new city flag

Lockport, Illinois, now boasts a new city flag thanks to Zach Dylkiewicz and his Eagle Scout project.

The eighth-grader presented his idea for a flag to the city, which piqued Mayor Steven Streit’s interest. Zach then worked with a committee and an expert in flag design to present two meaningful options to city council. They voted to go with the layout to the left.

Scouts roll out in big numbers to collect seeds for conservation

More than 100 Scouts from around St. Croix County, Wisconsin, gathered to collect native prairie seeds for Conservation Day at the Waterfowl Production Area last weekend.

The day is an annual event that began as a partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Scouting America. Over time, more organizations and families have joined the effort.

In case you missed it: Detroit Lions running back and Eagle Scout David Montgomery builds on his Scouting experience to encourage youth to get involved

Scout Troop 772 David Montgomery

Some huge news landed in the Scouting community this week as David Montgomery, an Eagle Scout from Troop 772 in Cincinnati, Ohio, began an ambassadorship with Scouting America.

“While Scouting took me outdoors and helped me discover a lifelong love for camping and fishing, it also taught me valuable lessons like developing a strategy and executing a plan, as well as how to be accountable for others than myself,” said David. “These skills helped me both in Scouting and also taught me how to be a better athlete on the field.”

Find out more about the incredible partnership between David and Scouting in the official press release.
