Nominate a Scout or Venturer in the 2019 Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards

Lillian Rose Weihert, a Venturer from the Chicago-based Pathway to Adventure Council, received the 2017 Outdoor Inspiration Award in the Youth category.

Young people who inspire their peers? Your troop or crew has plenty of them.

Leaders who serve their communities? That’s a great description of Scouts and Venturers, too.

Adventurers who love exploring the outdoors with friends? See above.

Nominations are now open for the Youth category in the 2019 Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards. The ideal nominee is a young person between the ages of 16 and 21 who shows leadership, serves his or her community, and inspires others to enjoy nature.

The award isn’t just for Scouts or Venturers, but you won’t be shocked to learn that a BSA youth member has won it in three of the past four years.

The deadline to nominate someone is 5 p.m. PT on May 3. Nominations are accepted online.

What are the Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards?

The Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards celebrate champions of the outdoor community. The awards come in five flavors:

  • Individual
  • Manufacturer
  • Retailer
  • Nonprofit
  • Youth

Winners will be honored June 18 in Denver during Outdoor Retailer, a giant trade show for the outdoor industry.

Who makes an ideal candidate for the Youth award?

It’s that Scout or Venturer who’s always encouraging fellow youth to get outdoors and stretch the troop or crew’s definition of adventure.

Consider someone who …

  • Is between the ages of 16 and 21
  • Shows leadership in their school, community and troop/crew
  • Shares their passion for the outdoors with others
  • Goes above and beyond to protect and preserve the environment

Here’s the nomination site.
