Scouts react to meeting President Obama to present Report to the Nation

He’s personable, humble and didn’t seem at all rushed.

Those were the instant reactions from the eight Scouts, one Venturer and one Explorer who met President Barack Obama on Tuesday at the White House.

The group of 10 youth delegates presented the BSA’s 2015 Report to the Nation to Obama, who as U.S. president also serves as the BSA’s honorary president. The report recaps 2015, which was another great year in Scouting: 2.3 million youth participants served, 15.3 million hours of service logged, 54,366 new Eagle Scouts.

Receiving the report is standard procedure for Obama. In his eight years in office, this is the seventh time he has met with Scouts to receive the Report to the Nation in person.

But for the young people who presented the report in the Oval Office, shook hands with Obama and took home some White House M&M’s? This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity they’ll tell their grandchildren about.

As for me, I anxiously waited for them outside the White House gates to get their reactions. Take a look at what they said in this short video below.
