How do you rein in camp waste on Scout trips?

Tuesday-TalkbackAt some events in Dave West’s district and council, he sees troops using paper plates and plastic utensils.

This assistant Scoutmaster in the Utah National Parks Council wonders how using these disposable paper and plastic products aligns with the BSA’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

“This seems like a waste and a Leave No Trace no-no,” Dave says. “I’ve always encouraged my Boy Scouts to purchase or put together a simple mess kit. We wash the dishes and leave them out to dry as part of our kitchen cleanup. What do other troops do?”

Sounds like a good idea for a Tuesday Talkback, Dave.
