This could be the greatest-ever excuse to earn the Home Repairs or Woodwork merit badges.
Troop 248 of Oakdale, Pa., is featured in an episode of Barnwood Builders, the DIY Network show about West Virginia craftsmen who restore old barns and cabins.
In the episode (Season 2, Episode 7), the guys help Troop 248 restore and repair the 1730s cabin where the troop meets.
Steve Fox, a Scouting volunteer who sent me the tip, says Barnwood Builders is “a really interesting show. The troop — and Scouting — are shown in a very positive light” in the episode, he says.
Here’s how DIY Network summarizes the Scouting-themed episode, which next airs at 10 p.m. Eastern on Sunday (Nov. 22, 2015) and repeats several times:
The Barnwood Builders volunteer to help Boy Scout Troop 248 build a new lodge out of their old lodge. Mark and the guys have a lot to teach these boys about the pioneer life. And the boys’ determination gives the Barnwood Builders something in return: hope for the future.
