One more reason to become a Pathfinder member of the Scouting Alumni Association

defiant-coverIf the membership card, window cling, luggage tag, lapel pin, electronic newsletter, National Scouting Museum membership and discounts from major retailers weren’t enough to entice you, here’s one more reason to become a Pathfinder member of the Scouting Alumni Association.

Join between now and Nov. 30 and $4.99 gets you a copy of the “unforgettable,” “gripping” and “riveting” book Defiant by Eagle Scout Alvin Townley.

That means you get the book and the one-year Pathfinder membership for $39.99.

I’ve blogged about Defiant before. Townley’s book, which retails for $17.99, tells of the 11 American prisoners of war who were shipped from the Hanoi Hilton to an even worse prison in North Vietnam they nicknamed Alcatraz. The book isn’t just by an Eagle Scout; it’s also about Eagle Scouts. Two of the 11 members of the “Alcatraz Gang” — James Mulligan and George Coker — are Eagle Scouts, and several others had Scouting backgrounds.

This special offer makes a Pathfinder membership even more enticing, but the Scouting Alumni Association’s premium membership has always been a great way to reconnect with Scouting and save some money.

Pathfinder members receive discounts to major retailers like Firestone, Papa John’s, 1800Flowers.com, Office Depot, Chili’s, Men’s Wearhouse and AMC theaters. A portion of Pathfinder dues goes to support local Scouting, too.
