Nominate a Scout or Venturer for the 2016 Outdoor Inspiration Awards

I’m willing to bet you know a Scout or Venturer who “shows leadership and passion for the outdoors and is an inspiration to us all.”

I mean, that’s pretty much every Scout and Venturer you’ll meet.

Think of a young person (between 16 and 21 years old) who fits the bill and nominate him or her in the Youth category of the 2016 Outdoor Inspiration Awards.

But don’t delay. The nomination window slams shut at 6 p.m. (PST) on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.

Now in their sixth year, the Outdoor Inspiration Awards “celebrate those that inspire and encourage others in their communities to enjoy, participate in and support outdoor activities and the outdoor industry.”

The Youth category debuted last year, and — surprise, surprise — a Scout won it. Eagle Scout and climbing superstar Matt Moniz received his honor during a ceremony at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City.

The Youth category is sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America, but it’s open to youth who aren’t in Scouting. And the BSA has no part in selecting the winner.

Here’s what we know about the Youth category:

It’s designed to recognize an outstanding youth (16 to 21 years old) in the community who shows leadership and passion for the outdoors and is an inspiration to us all. Consider things like:

  • Someone who shows leadership in schools and communities
  • Someone who shares his or her sport and passion with others
  • Someone who goes above and beyond to protect and preserve the environment

The nomination process is pretty simple. Go here to learn more, and let’s get a Scout or Venturer on the stage for the second year in a row!
