September-October ‘Where Am I?’ winner and location revealed

Sept-Oct Where Am I image

What a view! And it’s one that doesn’t come without a little effort, either.

If you want to perch atop this rock wall, you’ve got to rope up and climb nearly 75 feet of vertical rock.

The location? Sam’s Throne, a secluded rock-climbing spot near Mt. Judea in Arkansas’ Ozark mountains.

Readers submitted 114 guesses to the September-October “Where Am I?” contest, and only 60 were correct. That means each submission had little more than a 50-percent chance of being correct. We used a random number generator to select the winning entry, number 17.

Despite the tough stakes, No. 17, Leslie Ratterman of Kansas, guessed right. In addition to her correct entry, she wrote, “This is one of our favorite places on the planet!” And with a view like the one above, it’s not hard to see why.

Congrats, Leslie! You’ve won a $100 Supply Group gift certificate to use at ScoutStuff.org or at your local Scout Shop.

We’ll continue our geography trivia in our next “Where Am I?” contest, featuring a far-off island. Can you guess the location? Examine the clues and the photo at this link, and submit your guess for a chance to win.

Good luck!
