Find the tools to make recruiting for your Venturing crew easy

The BSA is betting those questions and other enticing messages will help bring prospective members to your Venturing crew.

It’s all part of the new Venturing Tool Kit, released this month by the BSA’s Marketing Group.

At the link above, you’ll find posters and fliers designed for you to print and tack onto bulletin boards, hand out to friends, or otherwise distribute to young men and women looking for an organization that’s enriching, engaging, and exciting.

There’s even a handy recruiting guide (PDF) that tells you when, where, and how to attract new Venturers.

The ultimate prize comes when you show young men and women age 14 to 20 (or 13 and finished with the eighth grade) the adventures awaiting them if they join your crew. Get started today!

    The fact sheet included in the tool kit has one statement that has me curious, though. It says “Focus areas of the Venturing program include the outdoors, arts and hobbies, sports, religious life, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), and Sea Scouts.”

    Aside from STEM, these correspond to the Venturing bronze awards. This reminded me of an article I read in Scouting Magazine way back in 2009 (http://www.scoutingmagazine.org/issues/0911/d-advance.html) that mentioned, in passing, a new math and science bronze award. I immediately started looking for information about it but without success. I’ve been waiting for its release ever since but until today I haven’t seen anything that would indicate such a thing existed. Does this mean it’s finally coming, or do I get to wait another two or three years before hearing more?
