Let’s face it. You won’t be the first on Mars, the first to summit a mountain, or probably even the first in line for the next new iPhone.
But serving on the inaugural jamboree staff at the Summit?
Yeah, there’s still time for that history-making first.
Some day, you’ll tell your grandkids you were an integral part of this once-in-a-lifetime event. But first you’ve got to register.
Good news: Staff and participant registration is now open for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree — the first to be held at the BSA’s fourth high-adventure base and permanent jamboree home, formally known as the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.
There’s still room for you and others age 16 or older (by the first day of the jamboree) to grab a vital staff position.
The big event will be held July 15 to 24, 2013, at the Summit in West Virginia.
You can serve on staff for the whole time or — in another first — you can work for half the event and pay half price. Perfect for people with full-time jobs and limited vacation time.
Click here to apply or to learn more about serving on staff. There you’ll find staff fees, position descriptions, and mandatory terms for applicants.
Once you’re registered, your countdown to fun officially begins. You’ll be there to help Scouts experience mountain biking, paddle boarding, zip lines, canopy tours, rafting, kayaking, arena shows, and all the friendship and fellowship that has defined jamborees for generations.
There will only be one first jamboree at the Summit. Now’s your chance to be a part of history!
