Summer spots are still available for Philmont’s individual programs

Philmont’s famous 10-day treks fill up fast. In fact, the registration window for next summer has already closed.

But there’s still hope, even for Scouts itching to head to Philmont this summer.

I’m talking about Philmont’s individual programs, which let Scouts experience Philmont in a unique way.

They’re designed for individuals or small groups, so Scouts don’t have to worry about getting together a full crew.

The individual programs have spots available—but not many. So don’t delay.

These programs still have openings for 2011:

  • Rayado, a 21-day “Ultimate Wilderness Challenge.” Many Rayado participants go on to become Philmont rangers.
    • Both sessions have openings:
      • For the June 20 to July 10 session, only the women’s trek has openings.
      • For the July 18 to Aug. 7 session, both the men’s and women’s treks have openings.
  • The Roving Outdoor Conservation School, or ROCS, a 21-day hands-on conservation experience that I blogged about in February.
    • Three of the four sessions have openings:
      • Session 1, June 16 to July 7 (male session)
      • Session 3, June 30 to July 21 (female session)
      • Session 4, July 7 to 28 (male session)
  • Trail Crew, a 14-day coed trek that includes seven days of building trail and a seven-day educational trek.
    • Only Session 2 (July 26 to Aug. 9) has space remaining.
